Opening Ceremony
The public launch of the International Year of Global Understanding
On 2 February 2016, the International Year of Global Understanding was officially opened in Jena, Germany. The ceremony at the Volkshaus Jena marked the public beginning of a global initiative that set out to connect local everyday practices with global challenges. It was conceived as a shared project of the natural sciences, social sciences and humanities, and brought together international guests, academic partners and the wider public.
