This conference celebrates the 10th anniversary of the International Year of Global Understanding (IYGU), which was established in 2016 to encourage a global perspective on addressing global challenges. It showcases the inception of the IYGU, its outcomes, and its potential future developments. Considering the current rise in authoritarian politics worldwide, including the nationalisation of global issues, we are witnessing an inappropriate development.<\/p>\n

In the light of the qualification of the IYGU being a \u201cblueprint for the reform of the UN\u201d by a relevant UN diplomat, the conference debates future perspectives for political action towards global sustainability and the role of key partners. The conference programme brings together leading figures from the humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, politics, civil society, and the arts, who are key agents of change.<\/p>\n
In view of IYGU\u2019s impressive success, the anniversary celebration on February 23, 2026, calls for support for its ongoing program, including The Jena Declaration (TJD), the UNESCO-MOST BRIDGES Coalition, and the set of five UNESCO Chairs created in its aftermath.<\/p>\n
